Looking as far back as New York Power to Choose data was available, a new analysis by technology data provider Intelometry found that:
- If customers spent just 15 minutes a month shopping for variable rate ESCO plans they could save, on an individual customer basis, between $120 and $210 per year.
- If every customer had shopped for electricity in this way, they would have saved around $18 billion from the beginning of 2011 to 2016.
- If customers had spent just 15 minutes per year shopping for the lowest price, 12-month fixed price service from ESCOs, they would have saved more than $1.6 billion since 2011.
